BREAKING: Freddie Gray’s death was a homicide, criminal charges being filed
Maryland state attorney Marilyn J. Mosby announced Friday morning that Freddie Gray’s death at the hands of Baltimore police was a homicide, and that criminal charges will be filed.
“Mr. Gray’s death was a homicide,” Mosby said at a press conference adding, there is “probable cause to file criminal charges.”

This is a higher rate than the NFL has.
Two studies have found that at least 40 percent of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to the 10 percent of families in the general population. A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24 percent, indicating that domestic violence is two to four times more common among police families than American families in general.
What makes this even worse is that officers who are found guilty of domestic violence are unlikely to be fired, arrested, or referred for prosecution.

Philadelphia activists demand justice for Rekia Boyd
In response to the outrageous Chicago court decision exonerating the police in the killing of unarmed, 22-year-old Rekia Boyd, shot in the back of the head by Chicago police Officer Dante Servin, angry Philadelphia protesters on April 20 shut down rush-hour, Market Street traffic outside the 30th Street train station. Police attacked the demonstrators’ right to free speech, arresting Alkebu-Lan Marcus. Protesters followed up by marching in the streets to the 16th Precinct at 39th and Lancaster, and then to the 18th Precinct at 55th and Pine, where Marcus was released. He has been charged with disorderly conduct and three other misdemeanors.

To be clear: the protesters are high school students who staged a peaceful walk out until the police showed up in riot gear and started to chase them, deploy mace and agitating by assaulting people attempting to record them, including actual media. They have ordered everyone to go home, but they also shut down the mass transit. Citizens are telling us there are no yellow buses in Baltimore. So kids can’t even leave and get home.
